How Licences Work

Service fees vs. tool licences

Our service fees cover everything our team does — planning, execution, validation, support, and optimisation. Tool licences are separate, project-specific add-ons for migration tooling that we source at cost.

What the service fee covers

Our service fee is all-inclusive for the human work: architecture, project management, migration engineering, validation, go-live support, audit, and reporting. You pay one fixed price for the engagement.

Tool licences — for migration tooling like MigrationWiz or third-party transfer agents — are project-specific and priced separately based on the number of mailboxes, users, devices, or tenant packs required. We source these at cost and pass them through with no markup.

Volume discounts apply for seat counts over 500. We always clarify which tools are required and what they cost in the written proposal before you sign.

📬
Mailbox packs

Per-mailbox licence for email migration tooling. Priced in tiers (up to 50, 100, 250, 500+ users).

👥
User packs

Per-user licence for identity and profile migration. Volume discounts over 500 seats.

🖥️
Device packs

For endpoint migration and VDI deployments. Priced per managed device.

🏢
Tenant packs

For tenant-to-tenant migrations involving SharePoint, Teams, and OneDrive data.

FAQ

Pricing questions, answered.

What happens if the scope changes mid-project?
Scope changes are handled transparently. If something materially changes — more users than scoped, additional systems discovered, new compliance requirements — we raise a written change request before proceeding. There are no surprise invoices. Scope additions are priced separately and require your approval before we begin the additional work.
What if the migration takes longer than estimated?
Our fixed-fee model means that if the migration takes longer than our internal estimate due to factors within our control, we absorb the cost. We do not bill for overruns caused by our planning. If overruns are caused by factors outside our control — unavailable infrastructure, late access credentials, last-minute environment changes from the client — we discuss and agree a fair resolution in writing.
How do you handle large data volumes (multi-terabyte)?
Large data volumes are scoped during the assessment phase. For migrations involving multi-terabyte datasets, we factor in pre-staging transfer time, delta sync windows, and any required shipping of physical media or deployment of local transfer appliances. These requirements are costed into the fixed-fee proposal — not added later.
Who owns security and compliance obligations?
MrMigrator is responsible for migration execution and for implementing the security controls within the agreed scope. Ongoing compliance obligations — data classification, legal holds, regulatory reporting — remain with the client. We document what we have implemented and provide a written security posture report at project close, which can be used for internal audit or regulator evidence.
Is the free assessment really free with no obligation?
Yes. The free assessment is a 30-minute architecture call to understand your environment, discuss risks, and outline a realistic migration path. We do not require a purchase order, retainer, or any commitment from you to participate. After the call, you will receive a brief written summary. There is no obligation to proceed, and no follow-up sales pressure.
